According to an article in “Popular Science – The Science of Sleep”, insomnia is by far the most common sleep disorder experienced by everyone at some time in their lives. In fact, at least 50% percent of adults report having insomnia at one time or another.

Insomnia can take different forms – whether it is difficulty falling asleep; staying asleep; waking in the middle of the night and not being able to fall back asleep or waking up too early in the morning. This all amounts to less than the 6 – 8 hours of sleep which is recommended.

This creates a feeling of malaise, fatigue and mood imbalance to name a few symptoms. So what is the cause of insomnia? Typically is it anxiety or tension. Other reasons relate medical conditions such as sinus allergies, asthma, acid reflux, arthritis – just to name a few.
